This has been a confusing day!

Let me tell you about it. I started watching Beauty & The Geek S4. I used to do series-marathons in Copenhagen, when S1 was aired instead of S3 (danes tv lagging behind as usual).

In a series of unexplained events, (spoiler:) Amanda has been kicked out of The Mansion in the second episode. Where has the world come to? How does a girl with $8,000 investment of boobjob is thrown out of a tv show without a night-at-the-beach-special, or heck, at least a mud-wrestling-trailer. Come ‘on! Though I did also get to see Next today, phew, (spoiler:) at least Jessica Biel’s boobies are safe from a nuclear holocaust! Thank you, Lord!

Optimizing “Genius at Work”

Google must love me.

I haven’t put much work into this yet. This is a learning project, and it has its learning curve. As you all remember, a few days ago I announced (hear hear) that I’m trying an ambitious project, optimizing “Genius at Work” to link to megidish.net.

* Sep 21: not at all in google
* Sep 22: @350
* Sep 23: @150
* Sep 24: @120
* Sep 27: @24 !

That’s right! I’m on the 3rd page of google, and it’s all automatic. So what have I done so far?

1. Changed title of megidish.net to “genius at work”. Though the density of the title is desaturated by “megidish.net”.
2. Changed in wordpress the name of the blog, so ALTs now contain the same phrase
3. Changed some of my social networks user accounts (such as dig) to include the name “g@w” as website-name
4. Wrote a post about it, and used <strong> around it.

That was it. Now, starting from place 24, lets see if I can make it to number #1. Any bets?

I Am The Gawd of W0r

Yay me! I finished God of War 2!

Who’s da man? Who’s da man?! And it only took me ~15 hours (straight) with around 150 deaths :) Must say getting to the third sister was no fun on Normal mode. Alas, I am The Gawd of W0r, bow down before me. Now where’s III ?

Time Displacement Experiment

Here’s a quick hack. A while ago I saw this awesome video, and it has been sitting in the back of my mind for a while. Today I recalled this cool video, and decided that I’ll try to do something myself, using webcam in realtime. I wrote it in half an hour (this is my second actionscript code), and it’s only 50 lines of code! It’s quite buggy, sinusoidals never really liked me. When I get to fix it, I’ll post the full sources for others to benefit.

Cheers! :)

Genius At Work

I wanna try something. I want to seo myself. A wise man once said “I hope I’m not arrogant when I say that I’m the best man, in the world”.

Well, I’m not the best, nor the tallest form of chicken, but I’d like to try to seo the term “genius at work”. 40,600,000 results from a google search, with only two having the actual title at the top. I wonder if it’s going to hard to seo. If it turns out to be an easy task, I’ll try and optimize “genius”. That’ll be a difficult one!

So.

Sep 19, 2007: “genius at work” yields megidish.net as not in the top 100

And so our quest begins…

Happy Birthday, Smiley!

Just fired up new categories

I have just fired up two new categories, and this is their official initiation post.

Welcome to Entrepreneurship and code. Both will serve the community well. I think it’s time that I shared the learning process that I’ve been going through with all my online social projects, they would be of somebody’s benefit. I surely would have liked it if other people shared their experience with me. I cannot promise much (read: family of lawyers), but I will do my best to tell my story, and maybe run a post-mortem on my projects (wait, do I have to kill them first?)

So, welcome everybody and enjoy the stay. Swarm of posts are coming up your way. (woot! rhymes!)

I do not walk among the gawds anymore

I have cut my own wings
I no longer walk among the gawds
I have tasted the forbidden fruit
For I have finally seen Lord of The Rings

Up is down, Down is up

Megidish dot net has been doing the up and down dance. This is because Midphase is the best hosting in the world, to say the least. I just renewed my account, and a day later the server died.

Not that it’s a biggie, hard drives die all the time. But good ol’ Midphase have no raid mirroring. Soooooo it took about 12 hours to run fsck with badblocks, and then some more to fix the file allocation tables, and then some my sites were up with wrong databases. When I asked them several times where are the backups, how old are the backups, why don’t you use the backups? I just got a reply: “we won’t use old backups”. Who said backups need to be old?

Two days ago the server died again. When megidish.net dies, mail doesn’t make it through either. It’s funny that their support sends me mail to megidish.net ;) I emailed them, where is the 99.9% uptime guarantee, it’s already below 80%! They completely ignored it, and said the server will be up in a few hours.

So, choose Midphase/AN-hosting! The best values for your money! Just like magic,, you wonder all the time what the fuck is going on!

Need to move hosting again. Any suggestions?
Thank god for cpanel all-around backup script!
